In light of the school closure, below is some of the work that I will be providing on Monday in class (some of the work is from College Board and I cannot post here):
Vocab #7--the entire cycle will occur during this time off. The powerpoint is located under the Vocabulary tab, and below is the vocab sheet, which you are welcomed to recreate on regular paper.
Rhetorical Analysis Activity--this sheet will be filled out after watching clips to the associated movies. Please visit the Course Documents tab and find the movie/skill list and click the link for the correct movie.
Argument Activity--You are being given a chart of themes for all the readings we have done this year that could be used in your REHUGO evidence. I have noticed some less-than-sophisticated examples being used in your essays, so we need to be reminded on what we have learned this year. Complete the chart and when we return, we will assemble everyone's list and discuss what we have read.
Podcast Assignment--That is still due on the appropriate Fridays. Please note that I noticed that many people were analyzing the STORIES and not the PEOPLE REPORTING THE STORIES. You need to focus your critique on the PEOPLE REPORTING THE STORIES.
AP Classroom--obviously we are missing out on solid AP exam practice. In AP Classroom (found in College Board) I have assigned a series of things. There are:
SAT practice work. This is handed out in class only. I am sorry that I cannot post the file online.
We made it to our next assessment.
No homework was assigned for the weekend. Students are instructed to rest and relax.
Today was our vocab review!
Students reviewed previous notes and readings to construct a poster of writing skills and tips needed for the exam.
Due to the shortened week, the assessment will be this Thursday.
Using the same guidelines from yesterday, students are assessing their own synthesis timed writing from Wednesday.
Students then have to score themselves and explain why that was their score. I will then grade essays over the weekend and return them on Monday.
Today students are writing their first timed write for synthesis. We will deconstruct essays on this prompt later in the week.
With the same prompt from yesterday, students were charged with identifying:
1. A thesis for this prompt.
2. Writing one body paragraph, using TWO sources, just as they would if writing the actual essay.
