We reviewed for the vocab assessment THIS Friday!
We covered the basis for identifying argument, and then applied it to Act II of the Crucible.
Act 3 of the Crucible was assigned for homework. Have read by TUESDAY 11/06.
Today students synthesized a collection of texts, including our lecture notes, to create a profile of a puritan. They key points of focus were:
- society rules (and faux pas)
Today we read a poem about half-hanged Mary, who was hanged for witchcraft in the 1680s, but survived.
Further, students conducted a second read of this poem and answered the questions in the file below. Students answered question #: 3, 6, 8, 12, 15, 19, 21, 24, 26, 32
Today we finished reading Act 1 via Reader's Theater.
We also examined an essay, written by Miller, about why he wrote this play.
We started Arthur Miller's play, The Crucible. ****so excited!****
Students are completing their partner rhetorical analysis of the Sinners sermon.
In partners, students returned to the Sinners sermon and began the process of constructing a rhetorical analysis with their partner. Students collected info for SOAPS, rhetorical devices, and rhetorical appeals. Students were asked to ensure they address IMAGERY.
It will be completed in class tomorrow.
