Today was our last day in the library. Students should try and finish up any research needed over the four day weekend.
We will meet in class on Tuesday and finalize debates, which will begin on Wednesday.
Today, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we will be in the library conducting research for our debates on which teaching teens should have: abstinence only or comprehensive sex education.
Our debates will take place next week.
Today we finished and discussed our documentaries.
I explained the project as well. Monday, you will determine if you will select abstinence only teaching or comprehensive sex education teaching and debate that side in class. We will spend next week in the library conducting research for your side.
Remember, it's more challenging to select a side that you DISAGREE with that arguing one you already agree with.
We are continuing to view the second documentary. We should conclude tomorrow.
Remember that grade sheets are due Friday.
Today we began our second documentary titled, Daddy, I do. This documentary focuses on the phenomena of teens pledging abstinence through purity balls and other programs.
If you find your self absent between now and Thursday, you'll need to schedule a CP date with me to watch whatever part of the documentary you missed.
Today, we discussed/clarified elements of the documentary from this week.
Remember, if you were at all absent, please see me in CP to watch the documentary.
We are near the end of the first documentary.
Period 1 finished and we will discuss tomorrow.
Period 2 is about ten minutes from finishing, and will also have a discussion tomorrow.
The water main was repaired! We'll have school tomorrow after all.
Get ready to finish up that documentary! :)
It seems I neglected to update Monday!
Ok. Well, yesterday we started a documentary titled The Education of Shelby Knox, where Shelby, a teen from Texas, is trying to understand and learn about the benefits of abstinence and comprehensive sex ed teaching.
This documentary will serve as part of a research basis for your speeches later in the month.
We will continue this documentary into tomorrow.
If anyone needs to see it due to absence, either see me in CP, or watch it on Netflix.
Below are the notes assignments for the entire documentary.
In practice of the research we will be conducting later in the unit, we read an article practicing BDA (Before, During, and After) reading strategies.
No one finished this assignment in class. It is weekend homework and is due first thing on Monday.
This is the seventh year Mrs. DeWitz has taught Freshman. It is her eighth year at Thornton.
