We will finish and hold discussions on Tuesday.
Today we took the Gates PRE test.
We also created our assessment folders, so students can monitor their growth throughout the school year.

Today we finished our examination of the k-5 Common Core Standards.
We had a great discussion about how expectations have changed for these younger students, and what that means for what we can assume expectations will look like for high school students.
Today we examined the common core standards for grades K-5.
We discussed how important it is to understand what state and national educational expectations are for students of all ages.
In groups, students worked as book detectives to figure out what the various markings on my classroom library stand for. This ensures that students can select a book that is "just right" for them.
Today, we finished reviewing the syllabus. There will be a quiz on its contents this Friday.

This is the seventh year Mrs. DeWitz has taught Freshman. It is her eighth year at Thornton.
