Sorry this is so late. I went home sick today and have been sleeping all day! I woke up long enough to remember I needed to update you!
Today, we started our year-long practice to gain proficiency in standardized testing. We will do this every Wednesday, which your calendar indicates. At school, we call it PSAE Wednesday. It's designed to not only make you comfortable with testing, but to help work out the kinks that often lead students to choosing the wrong answers.
The assignment we worked with today is called Six-Way Paragraphs. The "6 ways" indicates the types of questions these tests ask. The questions cover: main idea (and whether statements are too broad or too narrow), subject matter, supporting details, conclusion, clarifying devices, and using context clues to identify unknown vocabulary.
This is the seventh year Mrs. DeWitz has taught Freshman. It is her eighth year at Thornton.
