Our courses were divided today.
Periods 3 and 11 were in the computer lab today putting the finishing touches on their violent video games essay. This essay is due Wednesday, but today is the only day we are in the lab.
Period 7/8 completed a mind map assignment for the Bronx Masquerade. Maybe you'll be able to use it on the final :)
Tomorrow, Period 7/8 is in the lab and periods 3 and 11 will be in the classroom.
We finished our class novel, Bronx Masquerade. In completing the novel, we also finished the ABC Brainstorming worksheet.
We've got some lab time next week.
Period 3: Lab 224
Period 11: Lab 235
Period 7/8: Lab 167
Today we read pages 130-156 in our novel, Bronx Masquerade. I read to the class while students completed an ABC Brainstorming worksheet. It's a little tricky, so we did half today, and we'll do the other half tomorrow when we finish the novel.
Today we took our 4th Interim Assessment.
Hopefully, scores will be available early next week.
Fame and glory to the top 3 scorers!
Sorry for the delay!
This website was blocked by our school today and I got home very late.
Anywho, today we revised our violent video games essay. Next Tuesday (pd 7/8) or Monday (period 3,11), we will meet in the lab to finalize these changes and turn in the final draft by next Wednesday before break. Gobble, gobble!
Today, we read pages 114-129 in Bronx Masquerade.
We finished the character sheets (yahoo!) and completed a venn diagram. One side dealt with Raynard and Steve, the two characters we read today. The otherwise compared two characters of your group's choice.
We'll finish this book by next week!
We spent some quality time today with our Reader's Handbook.
In groups, students took notes with either a mind map, two column notes, or power
notes in the topics of Theme and Plot.
This information is helping us better deconstruct our class novel, Bronx Masquerade.
Today, we learned and practiced peer editing. Students had two classmates proof read their violent video games essays and provide feedback, following a worksheet I created. We will revisit these corrections next week and finally turn in a FINAL draft of this essay.
Students who have not yet turned in an essay completed an alternative assignment to earn points.
Today, we read about how dialogue and fiction addresses author's purpose with fiction. This is important because we will continue our class novels next week.
In groups, students took notes on dialogue and fiction. It went very well! :)
