We did Tuesday Writing a little different today.
Students watched brief clip of how news media is portrayed on South Park. Then, students worked in groups to assemble a paragraph that I wrote pertaining to the media issue in the clip.
We are revisiting our notes on academic language and practicing these same words in another assignment. We will take notes on new academic language words next semester.
Today students took their roots assessment on the western civ words we took notes on two weeks ago.
Below is the weekend reading comp assignment. The assignment level is tied to the student's GATES score.
Students performed poorly on the root word practice worksheet from last week, so today students fixed their errors to earn more points.

With partners, students had to determine 1) QAR questions, 2) Connections, and 3) unknown vocabulary in the article we read yesterday.
