In partners, students read Chapter 2.
There was a socrative student activity that went with it.
Back in yesterday's groups, students examined the work day and life cycle in this society, and also postulated what the Great Rebirth and the Unmentionable Times are.
We began our dystopian novel, Anthem.
I read chapter 1 to the class as they created storyboards of visuals.
Homework: Students need to go back and highlight evidence of religious imagery.
In groups, students noted the religious imagery, what that imagery means, and what the names of the groups in this society mean.
Today, we started the novella, Anthem. This book is strikingly different than our world, so I read the first chapter to the class, while they developed a storyboard of visuals based on what occurred in the chapter.
Tonight, students are to go home and HIGHLIGHT or UNDERLINE evidence/examples of religious imagery in the chapter. It will be checked tomorrow for a homework grade.
Based on what people agreed with in the anticipation guide yesterday, students today are developing personal anthems that demonstrate what they stand for in this world.
Today we conducted an anticipation guide where students determined how they felt about a series of statements related to the individual VS the collective whole (meaning society.)
For the remainder of the week, students are reading/finishing group novels.
The associated assessment is due BY FRIDAY, 04/20.
Day 2 of Spring MAP Testing.
