Today we took our first Interim Assessment. This is a progress monitoring tool that allows me to track students' growth and development of specific, grade level reading skills over the course of the school year.
Students finished reading about media background with their partner today.
In partners, students read about the history of journalism and the media. This shapes the conversation we will have next week regarding how the media has become what it is today.
Students practice the paragraph structure that we took notes on last week. Using the student choice notes from 9/11, students used those notes to guide their writing.
This allows students to demonstrate:
1) That they understand how to use the notes to guide writing
2) That they understand how to write using the paragraph structure
Those that took it home, it will be due tomorrow.
Students examined the steps of agenda setting theory, and assessed two social media posting about one event, and applied agenda setting theory.
Today we began examining how news and information is regulated to the public.
Writing Structure Notes!
Attached below are examples from each class.
Worksheet is due Wednesday.
