I tried reading this book at the beginning of the school year, but the start of my thesis sort of got in the way. Now, I've finally had a chance to read it.
So, today I finished Dualed. This story is unlike any I've read before. In this world, people don't make babies the traditional way (ya know what I mean). They go to a clinic and pregnancies are made, much like what couples who have fertility problems go through now.
Except, there's a hitch.
When a couple goes to the clinic to make their baby, the clinic makes two babies. These babies are identical. When they become teenagers, they are activated. This means they will have 31 days to kill their alternate. 31 days to prove which twin is worthy of living.
West, the main character, loses her mother, father, sister, and older brother all by her 15th birthday. She has no one, except Chord, her older brother's best friend. She's a good fighter, she's a good shot, and she's good with knives. At 15, she's activated. But, her Alt is just as ready. Which will prove they're worthy of living?
This book was pretty awesome. West is just vicious.
I'm an avid reader. One thing I've learned in my many years on this Earth is that no matter what is happening in your life, you can always benefit from temporarily escaping life in order to become absorbed in a make believe story.
