This is another story surrounding the Zombie Apocalypse.
In this story, Benny, a 15 year old, lives in Mountainside. A fenced in city that has flourished, despite the occurrence of zombies. At 15, teens must choose what path/job they will take, or else their rations get cut in half until they do. With much resistance, Benny decides to apprentice with his brother, Tom, who is a bounty hunter. But, Tom isn't like other bounty hunters. He goes out and hunts specific zombies. He provides comfort to living families by going out and finding their zombified relatives, and "quieting" or killing them. He explains that zombies were once people, too, and should be respected.
Yet, not everyone works this way. Benny discovers that one of the bounty hunters, Charlie, is quite evil and has been rounding up children for a place called Gameland. It's sort of like a zombie hunger games.
Then, Charlie kid naps Benny's best friend.
Will they get her back? Will they die trying?
It was pretty good. Took a while to get into, but, once I did, totally worth the effort.
I'm an avid reader. One thing I've learned in my many years on this Earth is that no matter what is happening in your life, you can always benefit from temporarily escaping life in order to become absorbed in a make believe story.
