Happy Cold Day #2!
I've been working on this book for about a week. It's historical non-fiction, which is a very dry read, and often takes a while, when you're not used to it. Since I read so much science fiction, the slow pace of historical books is rough! Either way, I made it.
This book was recommended to me by my best friend. While I do not read religious text, I am interested in the legitimate, documented history of religious events. That is what this book focuses on.
The author, Reza Aslan, spent two decades researching historical documents pertaining to the Roman occupation of Jerusalem through the crucifixion of Jesus, along with everyone and everything that occurred in between. Remember, this is a compilation of historical research, so it merely suggests the rationale behind what occurred in this time period. No interpretation or preference of religion is offered.
This was difficult for me to read because it's so unlike anything else I typically read. But, I'm glad I did.
I'm an avid reader. One thing I've learned in my many years on this Earth is that no matter what is happening in your life, you can always benefit from temporarily escaping life in order to become absorbed in a make believe story.
